WinterKids Celebrates 10th Anniversary
June 23, 2010
WinterKids is 10! On Wednesday, June 30th, WinterKids proudly celebrates 10 Years of Winter Fun at The Woodlands Club in Falmouth from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Maine’s Wicked Funny Bob Marley and Maine’s Funniest Mom, Karen Morgan, will provide the laughs for the evening and two-time Gold Medalist (and WinterKids spokesperson) Seth Wescott will make a special appearance! Advance tickets may be available for $50 per person at 871-5700, ext 103. As there is limited seating, no tickets will be available at the door.
The fundraising event kicks off WinterKids’ fiscal year, and will bring together WinterKids’ sponsors, community supporters, friends, volunteers, donors, staff and board of directors. In addition to great comedy from Bob Marley and Karen Morgan, guests will be treated to a special video presentation and a winter-themed silent auction. The fabulous auction items include a chance to snowboard with Seth Wescott himself and an “all access” weekend getaway to Saddleback during the 2010-2011 winter season.
WinterKids began as part of Ski Maine Association with one program for 5th graders. It became an independent nonprofit organization in 2000, and its programs today—including the WinterKids Passport and the WinterKids FunPass—now serve children in preschool through middle school.
“We are so proud to celebrate a whole decade of getting kids outside and active in the winter,” said WinterKids’ Executive Director Fran Mullin. “Thanks to our dedicated staff, board of directors, sponsors, donors, and volunteers, WinterKids is able to provide outstanding opportunities for Maine families to get healthy and have fun. We look forward to another 10 years of fun in the snow!”
WinterKids would like to thank the 10 Year Celebration’s Host Committee for making the event possible: Severin and Cynthia Beliveau; Bill and Irene Berry; Meredith Strang Burgess and Doug Stewart; Steve Campbell; Fred and Judy Forsley; Denise and Scott Karkos; Eric and Dani Kolben; George and Virginia Kiesewetter; Jack and Jane Manheimer; Jay and Christine Mullen; Bob and Susan Peixotto; Doug and Lauren Sanford; Rory and Linda Strunk; Greg Sweetser and Debby Freeman; and, Larry Wold.
WinterKids is the nonprofit organization dedicated to helping Maine children develop healthy lifelong habits through fun, outdoor winter activity. WinterKids’ 2009-2010 sponsors include Hannaford Supermarkets, Healthy Maine Partnerships, TD Bank and Time Warner Cable. For more information about WinterKids, visit www.winterkids.org.
