Hearty Roots
Mission: Our operating mission is to “Get Kids Off the Grid and Into Their Hearts.”Hearty Roots is an esteem-building outdoor adventure program led by professional counselors & educators who also happen to be backcountry gurus. We are purposefully portable; we operate sessions throughout Lincoln County on local and accessible land and water preserves. Guided by the power of relationships, the benefits of nature, and a practice of mindfulness, kids gain experiences that strengthen resilience and personal growth. We offer a year-round “Outing Club” for kids, enabling them to snowshoe, fat-tire bike, hike, build fires and gratitude. We also offer a “Taproot Mentorship” program for kids who face challenges related to emotional regulation and friendship development by providing them with the tools, resources, and experiences that encourage personal growth. Taproot is a stepping stone to positive inclusion in our traditional programs. Summer Adventure Camps help kids stay grounded in nature, typically by way of the water. Our Coastal Explorations groups help kids explore Maine islands, gather their grit, explore new friendships. Along with traditional summer camp, a Sunbeam Camp welcomes all kids with neurological and physical barriers to participate in fun and adventure. All programming is done outside, surrounded by nature, in harmony with the self and earth.
