MSAD #46
Mission: We believe this school district should provide opportunities for students to acquire a strong academic background, an appreciation for the arts, a knowledge of our technological society, and competency in basic life skills through a variety of programs that meet the needs of individual ability levels. We also believe the school should provide the opportunity for students to acquire values enabling them to respect the rights and property of others, to appreciate human diversity, to use leisure time wisely, to build self-confidence, and to develop an appreciation of learning as a life-long process.
We believe the responsibilities of the school toward the community are to promote education and provide programs which will produce informed, concerned and productive citizens who can insure and maintain a quality environment. We also feel the physical plant should be accessible for appropriate community activities.
We believe the responsibilities of the community toward the school are to support the school financially and to use human resources to help create a climate acknowledging the value of education. The community should demonstrate a genuine concern for all young people: their educational, economic, social, physical and moral needs.
We believe that the parent is the child’s first teacher and has the primary responsibility for the continued growth of the child. We view the parent as a valuable resource and welcome parent participation in the educational process.
We believe the school should be aware that the common concerns of students are peer acceptance, adequate preparation for employment and/or further schooling, as well as the student’s recognition of the relevancy of school to preparation for life. We believe students want and should be given the opportunity to participation in decisions that shape their lives.
We believe the desirable relationship between students, teachers, administration, and the community is characterized by mutual respect, trust, acceptance, concern for others’ needs, open communication, and friendship.
We believe that programs, methods and materials should provide for student differences and abilities and enable students to meet their personal and academic potential.
We believe the multiple programs of the school should enable students to cope in a changing world by becoming creative, collaborative, analytical, and adaptive citizens of the school, community, state, nation, and world.
