Sabattus Primary School
Mission: Mission: Inspiring all learners to achieve future success
We take our mission statement seriously.
We understand that to inspire our students, we must demonstrate zeal and passion for learning!
We want to instill in our students that learning is a lifelong adventure. The best adventures take place outside. The caring adults at Sabattus Primary School wish to cultivate ways to foster authentic connections to nature to get our students outdoors.
We know climate change is shaping their future into one we don’t recognize. Therefore, having a strong relationship with the outdoors will help our students navigate an ever-changing world. We want the students of today to love and care for the environment of tomorrow. We realize the benefits of taking learning outside the building. By allowing our students the opportunity to be active outdoors, we are supporting their mission to achieve success. We know outdoor environments offer great opportunities for protective factors in young people’s mental healthMcCurdy et al., 2010; Louv, 2005). Despite this, young people are spending less time outdoors and feel less connected to nature (McCurdy et al., 2010; Louv, 2005; Driessnack, 2009). This gap may be harmful to mental and physical health (Louv, 2005; Driessnack, 2009).
