The City of Bangor offers over 25 miles of friendly Mountain Biking trails for kids and their families. The Downhill 24 Outdoor Fund Grant will give kids the opportunity to get outside.

Bangor Parks and Recreation purchased 4 mountain bikes of different sizes that will be used for many years to come. We run many “Shred Mountain Biking Camps” throughout the summers which serves over 100 kids. Many of these kids who do not own a mountain bike now have the opportunity to participate in this ever so popular program.

Besides our camps, we are putting together a “Bike Lease Program”. These bikes will be available for kids to lease for up to two weeks at a time. This way, many kids throughout the summer will have the opportunity to learn a new sport and to get outside and be active.
