About the Michael & Barbara Peisner Nordic Fund

Established in 2013, The Michael & Barbara Peisner Nordic Fund helps children in greater Portland learn to cross-country ski. Mike was a member of the WinterKids Board of Directors for seven years and served multiple roles on the board, including 2 years as President. The Peisners are avid winter enthusiasts and firmly believe in connecting kids who would otherwise not have the opportunity to try winter sports, recreation, and competition.

Through collaborations with Portland Nordic, Portland Parks & Rec, Oxford Community Services, and Chisholm Nordic Ski Club, and Westbrook XC Ski Club the fund has supported over 100 kids each year through training, equipment, and transportation costs.

WINTER 2023/24 GRANT RECIPIENTS

The WinterKids Peisner Nordic Fund supports the Chisholm Nordic Ski Club for the 2^nd year with a $5,000 grant. These funds support the continued growth of the program by providing reduced costs for students and helping cover the cost of coaching, allowing more kids to participate at a lower cost.

The Peisner Nordic Fund is also supporting the newly created Westbrook XC Ski Club. This new organization will provide equipment and instruction to youths in the Westbrook area. The money received by the fund will be used to cover all rental equipment costs for participants.
