Free, Virtual Outdoor Learning Training for Maine Preschool Teachers

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Winter is around the corner, and outside continues to be the safest place to be!
WinterKids is offering a virtual training to go alongside the WinterKids Preschool Guide to Outdoor Active Learning and while supplies last, one hundred and fifty teachers and early childhood providers can get both the training and the Guide for free. The WinterKids Guide is aligned to Maine Early Learning Development Standards and offers 8 weeks of study that include active, outdoor lessons for preschoolers.

This training is a contact-free option to get new resources for lesson planning for early childhood classes. All participants receive a certificate of contact hours upon completion. An engaging and interactive training, teachers can go at their own pace and receive resources for winter, spring, summer and fall—with fun ideas for 8 weeks of indoor and outdoor activities.

Teachers will find plenty to keep little ones moving AND learning by observing animal tracks, trying migration movement, making a snowball target, observing snowflakes, and much more!

“WinterKids helps children to discover the joy and health benefits of outdoor education in the winter, and year-round. Knowing healthy habits are built at a very young age, we are thrilled to be able to offer this convenient, virtual training for preschool educators” says Julie Mulkern, Executive Director.

This training was produced in collaboration with MCD Public Health’s Healthy Kids Healthy Futures Technical Assistance Program, funded by the Nemours Foundation.

Register today at www.winterkids.org. Participants will receive a hard copy of the WinterKids Preschool Guide to Outdoor Active Learning and a starter toolkit for use in the classroom.
