Schools, parks & rec programs, and nonprofits across Maine can apply now for a portion of $25,000 in grants through the WinterKids Downhill 24 Outdoor Fund

Westbrook, Maine, June 3, 2024 – WinterKids, a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to providing programs for children to be active outdoors, is excited to announce the opening of the WinterKids Downhill 24 Outdoor Fund 2024 application window. This marks the third year of the Downhill 24 Outdoor Fund, continuing WinterKids’ efforts to expand access to outdoor activities among children throughout Maine.
The WinterKids Downhill 24 Outdoor Fund seeks to remove barriers that prevent children from participating in healthy outdoor activities, such as limited access to proper equipment, clothing, and transportation. This year, WinterKids will distribute a total of $25,000 in grants to ten deserving organizations, divided among three Maine public schools, three Maine parks and recreation programs, three Maine nonprofit organizations, and one honorable mention.
“The WinterKids Downhill 24 Outdoor Fund grants allow us to support meaningful outdoor projects or programs that foster a love of active lifestyles and appreciation for the outdoors,” said Marion Doyle, WinterKids Education Director. “We are thrilled to invite organizations across Maine to apply and join us in providing children with opportunities to live healthier lives.”
Applications for the WinterKids Downhill 24 Outdoor Fund 2024 are now open. Interested organizations are encouraged to apply through the WinterKids website (http://www.winterkids.org/) by the application deadline on June 14, 2024. Winners will be selected through a community voting process and will be announced later in the summer.
