For our 3rd year of the WinterKids Downhill 24 Outdoor Fund, 47 organizations across Maine competed for ten grants totaling $25,000, aimed at helping to get kids outside and active within the communities they serve.

ABOUT THE DOWNHILL 24 OUTDOOR FUND

In 2022, WinterKids established the Downhill 24 Outdoor Fund to broaden access to healthy outdoor activities for children across Maine. This initiative supports schools, nonprofit organizations, and parks and recreation departments by providing essential funding. Grants provided aim to break down barriers that prevent kids from enjoying the outdoors by financing critical projects such as acquiring necessary equipment, appropriate clothing, transportation, and access to outdoor spaces.

  • Bruce M. Whittier Middle School (Androscoggin County)
  • Auburn Middle School (Androscoggin County)
  • Mt. Abram Regional High School (Franklin County).
  • Honorable Mentions: Memorial Middle School (Cumberland County), Bangor Parks & Rec Department (Penobscot County), and Alfond Youth & Community Center (Kennebec County).
