Congratulations to all of our WinterKids Winter Games 2021 Participants! WinterKids spokesperson, and two-time Olympic Gold Medalist, Seth Wescott shares a special message for you all…You are, indeed, proof of the very best that winter has to offer.

“Hello Maine students! You have done an amazing job of being outside and active this month. As someone who grew up in the western mountains of Maine, I understand how important it is to get outside. My love for winter  sports began as a kid in the Western Mountains, and took me all over the world, and led me to become an Olympic gold medalist two times in snowboarding.

You are one of 6000 students and 300 teachers, in preschool through eighth grade, who participated in the Fourth Annual WinterKids Winter Games. Wow! You are proof of the very best that winter has to offer.

With outdoors being the safest place to play these days, I congratulate you for practicing socially distanced winter activities with your classmates and families. This month, you have shown true determination and enthusiasm for the outdoors while showcasing the importance of community, health, and resilience. Thank you! I am so proud of you.

Thank you to WinterKids, as well as the many sponsors and partners who work together to make this happen each year. I am so proud to be a part of this organization.

Keep going, kids! Get outside. Be active. Have fun. Be a WinterKid!”
