WinterKids Board Transitions: Warm Welcomes and Fond Farewells
As we move into the 2024/25 season, we bid farewell to several remarkable humans whose dedicated service on our Board of Directors has ended. We say a fond farewell and THANK YOU to Jennifer Flynn, Steph Lindsay, Sarah Long, Tom Fremont-Smith, Gabe Weiss, and Jeff Zachau while welcoming several new board members!

ABE FURTH
Abe is a lifelong Mainer and co-founder of Orono Brewing Company and Wild Maine Vodka Seltzer. He and his wife Heather split their time between Old Town and Sugarloaf. Abe is an avid skier and mountain biker and believes in the positive power of outdoor activity. He supports the WinterKids mission, he loves the Downhill24, and he’s excited to serve on the WinterKids board. Abe also serves on the board of Outdoor Sport Institute and Bicycle Coalition of Maine.
JESSICA GAGNE
Hello! My name is Jessica Gagne and I am a former television sports anchor turned morning news anchor at WMTW. I have a passion for athletics and I am proud to be joining an organization that promotes outdoor winter activities for kids in my home state of Maine. I look forward to telling Winterkids stories and helping to find new and creative ways to grow the organization’s impact.
JOHN GIFFUNE
We’re excited to welcome John Giffune to the WinterKids board of directors. With over 20 years of experience in legal service, particularly in construction and complex commercial disputes, John brings a practical, results-oriented approach to problem-solving. John, who lives in Cumberland, Maine, with his family, is also an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys exploring Maine’s woods and waters.
Peter Lowell
I am an outdoor enthusiast trying to keep up with my 3-year-old and a hobby farm up in Brunswick while building a new business in financial services. I’m an avid and loyal Mainer and look forward to the opportunity to give back as much as this great state gave to me as a kid!
When I’m not working, you can find me mowing the lawn or out on the boat, biking, golfing, or hanging out with my wife, Anna, son Finn, and two dogs, Enzo and Maizey!
