With the help of Maine musicians, WinterKids 9th Annual License to Chill Event Launches Virtual Edition

Friday, November 6, 2020  – Presented by the Thomas Agency, the 9th Annual WinterKids License to Chill VIRTUAL Edition kicks off today at Noon with a silent auction and ends with a live event on Thursday, November 19 at 7 p.m.

With the ongoing pandemic, WinterKids has adapted their signature winter kick-off event, traditionally held in person at Portland House of Music. This year, the silent auction will be online for two weeks leading up to an exclusive online event.

With over 100 amazing silent auction items to bid on, there is something great for everyone’s early holiday shopping list. Items include restaurant gift cards, glamping, overnight hotel stays, house cleaning, jewelry, winter gear and more.  Items release online in three waves over the next two weeks. You can register for free online at WinterKids.org to participate in the silent auction.

You can also purchase tickets to the exclusive November 19 live event online at WinterKids.org. Featuring The Ghost of Paul Revere, Mallett Brothers Band, Lyle Devinsky and Maine’s Funniest Mom, Karen Morgan, this is a “can’t miss” Maine event!

To wrap up the evening, The Coast 93.1’s Blake Hayes will host a live auction. For just $20 per person, you can participate in this live event from the comfort of your home. There is an option to add a goody bag on to your ticket price, which includes drinks from Allagash Brewing and Maine Craft Distilling, and a large pizza from Portland Pie Co.!

Students, Teachers, and Families Impacted in Maine & New Hampshire since 2010!

WinterKids is the only nonprofit in Maine dedicated exclusively to increasing outdoor physical activity in children and families during our longest, most sedentary season.

The shorter, darker, and colder days of winter and the increasing allure of screen time make it all too easy for kids and families to “hibernate.”  At WinterKids, we make it our business to provide kids, parents, and teachers with the right option: to get outside, get active, and have fun in the winter – and year-round.

Outdoor kids are active kids. Active kids are healthy kids. Healthy kids are happy kids. Happy kids are “winter kids.”

With outside being the safest and best place to be, WinterKids has truly thrived during the pandemic! We were able to reach nearly 27,000 kids, teachers and families in Maine and New Hampshire with creative adaptations for safe, outdoor adventures. Check out our 2020/2021 Season Wrap Up Report!

annual report

We are so thankful for our WinterKids Family – sponsors, foundations, teams, friends, volunteers, board and staff – and most important, the KIDS we serve. 2020 was a fantastic year for our organization, reaching over 35,000 (!) kids, family members, and teachers with innovative, outdoor education programs.
