WinterKids began 25 years ago with the simple idea: help kids get outside in winter.
What expanded from a small ski passport for 4th graders has grown into statewide programs that reach over 50,000 participants annually through education and fun, outdoor activity.

The Auburn Ski Association Ski Swap will take place Sunday November 10th 9am-2pm. at Lost Valley. Come out to support our local teams and various other programs we support, including the Merrick Learn to Ski/Ride!
This event is hosted by the Yarmouth Ski Club and provides the Club’s financial support for Middle School and High School Alpine and Nordic Skiing teams and has been a huge driver of our success.
Winter in Maine has a way of bringing out the best in kids. Luckily, our state is home to an incredible variety of youth winter programs that make getting outside accessible for families of all backgrounds and experience levels. From after-school ski clubs to adaptive programs and community gear libraries, there’s truly something for everyone.
Winter in Maine is more than a season; it’s a playground, a classroom, and a chance to grow. This year, thanks to the WinterKids Adventure Fund, more than 1,300 children across the state will have new opportunities to discover the joy of winter through skiing, snowboarding, and cross-country adventures.
