The 13th Annual Downhill 24 at Sugarloaf Mountain was one for the books! From impressive fundraising totals to non-stop skiing and snowboarding under the lights, this 24-hour challenge brought together an incredible community of winter athletes, fundraisers, and supporters. Whether you skied, donated, or cheered from the sidelines—this event proved that when we come together, we make a difference for kids across Maine!
We had an incredible time with everyone at our 13th Annual WinterKids License to Chill on Thursday, November 7th, 2024! This year’s event helped raise over $30,000 to support WinterKids programs.
What a day it was! From the energizing beats that reverberated throughout the day to the adrenaline-fueled journeys up and down the mountain, not to mention the refreshing Orono Brewing beverages, every moment was a testament to the power of community and shared passion. Witnessing athletes push themselves to new heights, lap after lap, for a solid 12 hours was nothing short of inspiring.
WinterKids had an incredible 2023/24 winter season, capped off with a hugely successful Downhill 24 community fundraising event at Sugarloaf Mountain. This year, YOU – our sponsors and supporters – raised over $930,000 for WinterKids programs!
We had an incredible time with everyone at our 12th Annual WinterKids License to Chill on Thursday, December 7th! This year’s event was hosted by Après, in Portland’s East Bayside neighborhood, where guests enjoyed treats from Charcutemarie and Eighty8 Donut Cafe, dinner specials from Meet on the Street Food Truck, Après drink specials, live music by TJ Swan, and emcees Blake & Kelly from the Coast 93.1 Morning show.
What a tremendous first year, from music pumping all day at the stage, to bikers and runners alike tearing up and down the mountain, the delicious ice cold Orono Brewing beverages, and the camaraderie as athletes earned points lap after lap for 12 hours straight, it was a huge success!
